rainbow's end

rainbow's end

There are a lot of changes in the air
at OmBase scheduled for April!

Some teachers change days/times,
and we say goodbye to one of our long-standing teachers…..
Plus Todd has his first Yoga Immersion in months,
as well as a new class on Tuesday night.

Yoga Immersion
with Todd

4/5-4/23  every weekday 6:30-8 am

Cost: $150-180 sliding scale/pre-registration

Todd Williamson

This is a chance to gather and practice three-five sessions a week. These healing immersions focus on healing and balance through visualization, meditation and yoga asanas. It’s easier to do this “work” around others who are making the same choices… so take advantage of the others’ presence (presents) and join in.

This is the year for change. (the year of the Tiger).  The change is happening, and we’re all immersed in it – you’re immersed in it -  Spending just a bit of time with others who, like you,  are curious about, and more consciously choosing for – uncovering and discovering – something new – a new way of being -  will afford you an ease now, during these times which otherwise may seem daunting and fraught with overwhelming challenges.

In allowing yourself to be supported, you invariably align with, and tune into your Self, and so find yourself supported by the very change you felt at odds with… Open to the magic…

You can find out more about Immersion here.

Please call OmBase, or email Todd/OmBase if you want to sign up.

Decision to hold immersion will be made several days prior to start date, so don’t wait till last moment to let us know!

Yin Yoga at night!
with Todd

TUE 7:30-9 pm, every Tue in April

Cost: drop in donation class

Yin Yoga

Todd will be teaching a yin yoga class every Tuesday in April. You can arrive like to any other classes, and either use your class card or pay a donation.

Come explore what Yin Yoga is all about. Whether you are new to yoga in general, or a seasoned yogi, this is a class you’ll get a lot from.

One of the interesting things about the yin approach is that it benefits the more active person (runner, biker, etc) as well as the less active person (couch potato).

Saying goodbye to Jay….

Jay Fields

Most of you know Jay. She’s been with us from the very beginning of the start of OmBase, and we have known her long before that. She has always been committed to being a part of our family.

Jay is moving on, and she will not be teaching classes at OmBase, but we know we will see her again…

Please join us in wishing Jay the very best in her new endeavors!

Jay has a beautiful new website, and a blog, always worth reading!

www.revelationaryliving.com

Dear friends,

Thank you so very much for being a part of my journey of learning and teaching at OmBase. It’s hard to leave because I will miss the family I have at OmBase, but the “nest,” as it were, has served its purpose–I’m now ready to fly in to new ways of being that are most in alignment with who I am in my work and life now. I feel quite joyful to let go and let myself be taken by the flow of things, which right now means having more time for my private spiritual counseling practice, for workshops, and for writing. Feel free to visit my new website to see what I’m up to…

And I trust that part of the journey is to stay connected to Om as a student, friend, and collaborator.  Until that mystery unveils itself…

Much love,
Jay

We want your feedback!
We want to hear what yoga
has done for you,
how it’s changed your life.

It’s a place for YOUR comments…

We want to hear what you have to say!

Send us your stories (long and short) about how yoga & OmBase or a specific teacher has helped you improve your life, healed your body, quieted your mind, and whatever else!

We’ll post the long stories on our blog, to inspire others.

Your deep stretch class is helping me a lot.  I definitely want to come the whole month of August.  I’m not taking a vacation this summer.  Taking your class is like a mini vacation for me every Monday evening!  You and Todd have cultivated a very peaceful and positive environment at your studio“.~ Don

“We’ve both really been enjoying your class and the benefits are already apparent. R. saw his neurologist yesterday and he told us that he could see a noticeable difference in R.’s stance and balance since he saw him 6 months ago. Really good news! Thank you for helping that happen”.   ~ B.

Come to class! & let us know what you’d like….

Please help us spread the word, come to class!  We can’t be here without your assistance and participation.

Also, if there are times/classes that you would like, please let us know.

We’re extending our blessings to you  for

Yin Yoga + Sound Healing is back!
with Jay, Tom & Jen

FRI 5/29
7:15-9:45 pm

Cost: $25 Pre-registration/payment. $30 at the door

singing bowlsThis very popular event is happening once again at Om Base….

An evening of total relaxation and healing resonance. Tom and Jen will bring their orchestra of healing chimes, singing bowls, and didgeridoos and play while we ease into an hour and a half of Yin Yoga followed by an hour-long sound healing in savasana. You are invited to relax and to let the vibrations of the sound waves ease into your body and find their own way to the spots that need it the most.

Yin yoga is a totally restorative form of yoga in which you stay in supported seated or supine poses for a few minutes at a time while all of your body-mind’s holding patterns melt away. It’s perfect for people who are new to yoga and the perfect balance for yang-centered practices.
Please pre-register for this class to get a spot! It tends to fill up.

Dance Om: Solo Dance Journeys
SAT 5/30
7-9 pm

Cost: Sliding scale $8-$18 (pre-register or drop in)

Solo Dance Journeys
Join with others in a safe, welcoming environment to take a free-form movement journey all your own.

Please join us for this evening of inner-discovery, self-expression and creativity through the joy of dance – no experience necessary!

Since this gathering does not include physical contact with others during the dance, the evening starts with brief boundary setting so that we can all stay focused and open to our inner impulses. And then we’re off!

The journey begins with a short guided movement meditation for presence & grounding—and here is where the verbal input ends. Continuous waves of a wide variety of music will usher your body, mind & spirit from the Om Base studio to anywhere your inner-eye will take you.

Taking these solo journeys with others doing the same provides the intention, energy & richness that only a group dance can bring. Attention to boundaries ensures that each of our dances can be an uninterrupted and deeply personal journey.

We end with a closing circle, where speaking is optional.

7:15-8:45 pm

Cost: FREE /donation

drum circle

Our drumming circle is going strong!
Join Mike for a fabulous time!
Bring a drum or favorite instrument or pick one up at the circle.

Drumming can heal the spirit, body, mind, heart and the earth. Together we create “in the moment” connectedness through open spirit and oneness. Wonderful things can occur, elation, release, relief, joy, tears, laughing, giggling, smiling, bonding, heart opening, and sharing.

In addition, drum circles are just plain fun and exhilarating!

Absolutely no drumming or music experience is required – just an open mind and open spirit. Everyone has a heart that beats within them and from this mother rhythm you will be amazed at what we can create together.

If you own a drum or other instrument please bring it, however, there will be a limited number of drums for those that don’t have one. Any and all percussion instruments are welcome, e.g. wood blocks, bells, tambourines, shakers, flutes, whistles, etc.

We encourage you to bring your friends or invite friends who you think may be interested in attending this community drum circle – the more the merrier! We also encourage dancing!!! If you want to come and simply dance or just listen to the rhythms please come as well.

7:15-8:15 pm

Cost: 108-$133 sliding scale. Pre-registration.

Todd’s teaching another Yin series this month in the evenings. There are just a few days left before it starts!

The yin approach utilizes long, supported, postures, that you simply relax into… when the muscles are relaxed, then the myofascial tissue surrounding them can begin to stretch and also strengthen.

We spend four or more minutes in each pose… gently exploring the full range of motion of the major joints. The yin practice is a great balance for those who are more active and or athletic, as well as a great practice for those new to yoga.

Dr. Felicitas Goodman, anthropologist, found that holding a posture represented by figurines and statues found in archaeological sites from hunters and gathers and horticulturists worldwide, is a method for achieving ecstatic trance and its attendant visionary experience.

Dr. Goodman introduced Dr. Analouise Williams to this ancient mystical tradition. Dr. Williams, a shamanic practitioner, teacher, and researcher, has studied from other gifted shamanic teachers.

However, when she offers the ecstatic body postures, people experience a different — and often profound — mystical experience.

No previous shamanic journey experience is required. Please wear comfortable clothes, and bring a rattle or drum (optional).

Cost: $15-$35 sliding scale (cash or checks preferred)

Joseph GoldfedderThis past Sunday we had our first Community Acupuncture at Om Base and it was fabulous.

We’ve decided to repeat it next month….It’s right after Todd’s yoga class on Sun, and you can come to class and stay, or show up for it after the yoga class is over.

Joseph will take some time with each of you and will place needles on your body as you relax deeply on a yoga mat.

Community Acupuncture’s goal is to make acupuncture more affordable and accessible by offering it in a communal setting for a sliding scale ranging $15- 35 a treatment. The idea to combine Yoga and Acupuncture together is to enhance the effects of  both practices.  By integrating the mind and body we enable our bodies a greater healing potential.  Acupuncture assists us by in tapping into our energy reserves, increase our energy flow as well as promoting sense of well being.  Our bodies do the rest.

Joseph Goldfedder, L.Ac., completed his Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in New Mexico in 2006.  He initially moved to Portland to co-found Brooklyn Community Acupuncture. In his practice he believes in the integration of art and medicine, creativity and spirit.
