Reiki's Healing Energy

Reiki is a hands-on healing modality that promotes stress reduction and relaxation, and allows the body to initiate self-healing. It is a powerful, subtle form of energy that is always available and can be a life-changing experience. Clients report increased energy, reduction of pain, deep relaxation and a general feeling of well being after a Reiki session.

 

Dr. Mikao Usui is the founder of the Reiki system. He lived in Japan in the 1800s and he received the ability to heal without feeling depleted. He trained & initiated various practitioners, and Reiki has been passed by initiation on that way; is now used all over the world with great success.

 

What happens during a treatment?

You lie on a massage table fully clothed. The therapist makes contact with your body, usually starting at the head and working down to the feet. Each hand position is held an average of 5-10 minutes. In my work I like to start out at the head, as most people are "in their heads" all day, and that calming energy reaching your mind can help you relax right away. If you are a particularly analytical person, or super stressed, you might need a little longer.

A complete treatment can last from an hour to an hour and half during which you can feel relaxed, and at time can experience some emotional release. Each experience differs.

I like to incorporate therapeutic gemstones from Gemisphere during the session, and use them where it is most appropriate, often down the spine and on the chakras. The session also includes sounds from various instruments, such as TIbetan and crystal bowls, rainstick, rattle and others.

I find that each session varies, but the energy work coupled with the gemstones and the sounds can help you relax very deeply, shifting the brain waves from the rapid patterns of Beta into the more gentle waves of Alpha, inducing a very deep state of healing.
